Web Site Launched as Oklahoma’s Online Connection to Child Care Solutions

Oklahoma City, OK — The Oklahoma Child Care Resource & Referral Association announced today it has launched an all-new web site to provide comprehensive information to families, child care providers, businesses and other interested citizens and advocates. The site may be accessed at www.oklahomachildcare.org

For family members seeking child care, the site offers an online search tool, as well as detailed contact information for personal help in finding child care that fits their needs through out Oklahoma. It also offers detailed information about types of child care available, how to choose a child care provider, and where eligible families can turn for help in paying for quality child care.

Current child care providers can find training opportunities, access online technical assistance, read about new policies that govern their operations and link to professional development opportunities and other resources to help them improve their quality of care. For persons interested in becoming child care providers, there is a wealth of information to help them get started.

The web site also has a section designed especially for employers who want to improve productivity and build employee loyalty through family-friendly policies and support for their employee-parents. Another section is for citizens who want to learn more about current child care issues and advocate for better child care.

“Although many web sites offer excellent information about child care and early education, it can be difficult for people to find what they need in this complex array of offerings,” said Gail Upton, CEO of the Oklahoma Child Care Resource and Referral Association.

“Our purpose is designing this site was to provide an organized approach for each of our audiences. As a result, our new site can be considered not only as an excellent resource of comprehensive and substantive information about child care in Oklahoma, but also as a gateway to many state and national web sites that contain specialized and official information.”

The site is currently being translated into Spanish for the benefit of Hispanic families and child care providers, with a target completion date of August 1.
